On The Studio Wall
If you stepped into the art studio today the first thing you'd notice is the six feet of paper hanging on the wall near my drafting table.
I placed the sheet there days in advance of painting on it since I knew that I'd need a large space that I could freely experiment on before starting something new. Sometimes the size of my sketchbooks become restrictive.
Charcoal and soft pastels were used to break up the space and provide a sort of plan. Then I used acrylic paint to create the rest.
This exercise is incredibly freeing and a great way to develop ideas for future abstract pieces. It can also help strengthen my pattern and mark making skills.
